Ceramics
Its manufacturing generate waste emissions to air, water (sewage) and soil.
Emissions to the atmosphere: particles / dust, soot, gases (CO, NO, SO, fluorinated and chlorinated inorganic compounds and heavy metals)
Discharges into water: the wastewater contains mineral elements (insoluble particles), inorganic material, small amounts organic species and heavy metals
Process losses / residues: consist different types of sludge, broken pieces, used plaster molds and adsorption agents and solid residues (dust, ash) of packaging
Energy consumption / CO2 emissions: intensive energy consumption is used since a fundamental part of the process is drying followed by firing at temperatures between 800 and 2000 ºC.
