RURAL
Rural refers to characteristics that are associated with a locality or region, such as a low population density or a small community of inhabitants. In a rural area, the main economic activity is focused on the environment, particularly in the primary sector.

URBAN
Urban refers to characteristics that a locality or region has, such as a dense population, an economic activity linked to the industrial and services sectors, as well as the presence of administrative centers and physical infrastructure.

he industrial and service sectors are the most important and the majority of the population works in these sectors.
In addition, it has higher incomes than the inhabitants of rural areas.

CITY
Population inhabited by a group of people who are mainly engaged in industrial, commercial or other activities not related to the countryside and agricultural exploitation.
Industrial function: This function has been reinforced since the industrial revolution, in which the expansion of industry favored urban growth.
Cultural function: Cultural tourism has allowed the growth of cities such as Venice or Toledo, in which many of the economic activities that take place in them are related to tourist visits, congresses, festivals, etc.
Commercial function: Currently, cities are the commercial center of a wide territory that supplies them. The main commercial companies are concentrated in the cities, and all those that arise around them.
Reception function: those places whose main activity is to offer accommodation and entertainment to tourists and other visitors. Summer and winter recreation places are those that make up this type of city, examples of which are cities such as Marbella, Benidorm or Montecarlo.
Military function: Nowadays this main military function can be observed in the localities near military bases, where a large population works giving services to the army installations.
Political and administrative function: the designation of the capital of a territory for a city implies the installation in it of multiple public organizations, and the need for many officials to attend to them. This function has allowed the growth of state and regional capitals, since economic power is usually installed alongside political power.
