Types
Scamming
A fraudulent scheme performed by a dishonest individual, group, or company in an attempt to obtain money or something else of value.
Phishing
Phishing is a term used to describe a malicious individual or group of individuals who scam users. They do so by sending e-mails or creating web pages that are designed to collect login information on your account.
Virus
A computer virus is a malicious software program loaded onto a user's computer without the user's knowledge. It can self-replicate, inserting itself onto other programs or files, infecting them in the process.
Trojan horses
A Trojan horse is a malicious computer program that presents itself as legitimate software. Also called as a Trojan, it hides malware in a normal looking file. The term Trojan horse is based on the deceptive wooden horse that led to the fall of the city of Troy in Ancient Greek mythology.
Worms
A computer worm is a standalone malware computer program that replicates itself in order to spread to other computers. It often uses a computer network to spread itself, relying on security failures on the target computer to access it.
Pharming
Pharming is a scamming practice in which malicious code is installed on a personal computer or server, misdirecting users to fraudulent Web sites without their knowledge or consent.
