FUNCTIONS OF A CITY:
Commercial function
Cities are the commercial center of a territory that supplies themselves. The main commercial companies are concentrated in the cities and all those that arise around them.
Social function
Those places whose main activity is offer accommodation and entertainment are those that make up this type of city, such as Marbella, Benidorm or Montecarlo.
Industrial function
Because of the need for labor, the concentration of customers and other service companies necessary for production in cities, many industries look for this location.
Politic and administrative function
A city has multiple public agencies and the need for many officials to serve them. That allows the growth of cities because economic power is installed next to political power.
Cultural function
Cultural tourism, the influence of pilgrims to its religious centers or the existence of educational institutions has allowed the growth of cities.
Militar function
It can be seen in the towns near military bases, where many people work giving services to army installations.

Is a poblation with a high levels of human density, with the biggest part of their habitants working in the tertiary sector.
