What does speaking involve?
It involves that the leaner need to be able to interact with other people.
Interaction involves more than putting words together; it involves responding to other people.
This means choosing the appropriate language for the person you are talking to.
Also it involves a wide range of skills
Like, think in something to say in another language and feel confident enough to try to express it.
Put words, phrases and sentences together using grammar and vocabulary.
How to help learners develop their speaking skills?
We can help learners speak by helping them finding ideas to make them more creative.
We can give them opportunities to interact with others.
Developing Confidence
Learners who are shy to speak in their own language may find it even more difficult in a new language.
To develop their confidence in some ways:
Let the learners Warm-Up by sharing ideas in pairs before they have to speak
Using activities where everyone participate in order to achieve the outcome.
Repeating something many times will give to the learners more confidence and fluency.
Give planning time: Learners must have time to have ideas and think out what they want to say.
This will help them to feel more confident.
There's some steps to give them ideas for talk.
Discuss arguments for and against any topic they want.
Provide them information cards or a previous reading which it will stimulate their ideas.
They can expand the ideas on the card, adding ideas of their own.
