mostly came from emperor's extended families

they are higher than most people which made them wealthier
they rented their lands to the peasants
had to give some income to the emperor
Slaves
Public Slaves
Public slaves are criminals and gifts from other country
Private slaves
Private slaves use to be merchants and peasants
Emperor
Emperor is the highest in the social structure
only the closes people to the emperor can talk to him
Each emperor is known as the son of heaven
Emperor can come from any family form the social structure
They have multiple of servants
Scholar
usually comes from powerful and rich families
They need to pass a test
the test is opened to everyone but only wealthy people who can afford education have a chance to pass
they are very respected
Peasants
Respected more than the soldiers and scholars because they produce goods.
Have to work really hard but never get much relaxation time
No matter how hard they work they still have pay a lot of taxes
Sometimes forced to sell their children to pay taxes
They were uneducated and poor
Artisans
common class
includes jewellery makers, carpenters, potters, and painters
They are wealthier than peasants but they have lower social status because they contribute less than artisans.
