Positive Reinforcement

Constructive Feedback

Giving something to the subject when they perform the desired action so they associate the action with the reward and do it more often

Comment on behavior to make the person to be better and improve.

Ex:
"Keep it up the good work"

Often considered negative feedback but in a thoughtful way it can be constructive feedback

5 Elements

  1. Be specific & give example
  1. Create open dialogue
  1. Be honest yet thoughtful
  1. Be constructive
  1. Listen & do not interupt

The person understand exactly what the behavior is need to improve

It is two way process

Acknowledge the the person after being observed

Be tactful when delivering the feedback and be sensitive

If the person is not performing/ reaching the standard, be honest but don't be nasty to them

Focus on observation rather than inferences

Focus on description rather than judgement

Hear the person out, and listen to what they are really saying, not what you assume they will say

Absorb more information if when concentrating on listening and understanding rather than being defensive
