Forces
Types of forces
CONTACT FORCES
Friction
Explanation: friction is caused when any two objects rub together. Objects normally slow down or don't go as fast due to friction. If we didn't have friction we would slide everywhere without balance or grip.
Fact: friction can result in heat. For example, rubbing your hands together creates friction. That then creates heat as it makes your hands warm.
-
Observation: You wouldn't even be able to stand up without friction. We don't realize it, but without friction simple everyday life would be so hard.
-
Pull
Explanation: A pulling force is a force that moves an object forward or towards you. It can be a contact and non- contact force.
-
-
Observation: Push and pull are quite similar in that whenever there is a pull force in an object there could probably be converted into a push force.
-
push
Explanation: Push is a force that moves an object away from something. It can be a contact force and non- contact force because two objects touch each other to push, but they don't have to be touching.

Twist
-
Explanation: A twisting force is called torsion. Torsion is the motion/force of twisting open an object, like a jar.
-
Observation: the three main forces are push pull and twist. They are the most commonly known forces and the most simple to understand.
-
Normal
Explanation: A normal force is a force where one object is in contact with another stable object. For example, a book is in contact with a stable table and is just resting or sitting on the table. That is a normal force.
Fact: A normal force is an upwards force. In order to support the object on the table or counter the force has to exert upwards.

NON CONTACT FORCES
Gravity
-
-
Explanation: Gravity is a force that pulls any physical objects together. It is the reason why we can stand and walk, and the reason why we can throw a ball in the sky and it will come back down.
Observation: Gravity occurs/is in anything with matter. Gravity is so important that is basically controls how the solar system works and stops it from crashing.
