4 CE: Jesus is born
He is born to the Virgin Mary and he is believed to be the Messiah by some people.
30 CE: Jesus of Nazareth is crucified
Jesus had been betrayed by one of his own and is crucified by the Roman government, a common practice back then. He is believed to have arisen from the grave 3 days later.
35 CE: Thomas spreads Christianity
One of Jesus' former disciples, Thomas, spreads Christianity by traveling to Persia, Ethiopia, and India.
49 CE: Claudius expels Jews from Rome and Christianity becomes offical
Emperor Claudius expels Jews because of Christianity’s rapid growth in Rome. This also included Christians because the Jews and the Christians were not separate.
This is also around the time that Christianity spilts from Judaism and becomes its own religion
45 CE: Paul begins preaching
Paul, another disciple, starts his first missionary in order to spread Christianity. He will go on 4 more after this one
27 CE: Jesus starts preaching
He preached much differently than Jewish law for the next 3 years. This is considered the true beginning of Christianity
312 CE: Constantine converts
Before a battle, Emperor Constantine has a dream telling him to put the sign of God on his shield. After, he converts.
29 CE: John the Baptist is beheaded
This was very upsetting for many Jesus followers, many of whom had be baptized by John.
380 CE: Christianity becomes official religion
Emperor Theodosius makes Christianity the official religion of the Roman Empire, outlawing all other religions
