Emperor Constantine gave an Edict of Milan saying that Christians have the freedom to practice their religion.
The Jews led the rebellion against the Roman empire which led to Christianity being the official religion of Rome.

Christianity and Rome
The Jews started to rebel against the Roman empire. The Romans did not take this lightly. They established a direct rule over the Jews.
Many Jews waited for a messiah to come and deliver them from Roman rule. For many people this messiah was Jesus.
The Roman empire was huge and Jews that lived there were expected to worship Roman gods, but according to the Jewish bible you are only supposed to worship one god, Yahweh.
Jesus began to teach the Jewish tradition. The Romans soon arrested Jesus and sentenced him to death. Three days after he died, he rose from the dead.
A man named Paul spread Christianity, and Christianity soon became the official religion of Rome.
