Muscle Tissue
Muscle contraction
Myofibrils (filament boundles) contain myosin(thick filaments with protein) and actin (thin filaments)
-
Myosin filaments form cross-bridges with actin filaments, these change shape by pulling to the center of the sarcomere.
the cross-bridge detach from actin and repeats the cycle by binding to others. Contracted muscle (sliding-filament model)
-
Muscle fibers
-
white fast-twich muscle
few mitochondria, tire quiqly
Skeletal Muscle
attached to bones, consciously controled. Have light and dark bands called striations.
large, many nuclei vary in lenght. Often called muscle fibers.
Cardiac Muscle
In the heart
striated, not under nervous central system, can contract by their own and are joined by gap junctions.
