Embed diversity into vision and mission statement in order to be in the corporate culture
Social identity theory
Individuals all naturally categorise themselves and take pride in their social identity , they validate it through their ' in-group' and the expense of the " outgroup"
A shared social identity increases perceived differences, with individuals from other groups
Creating a barrier between groups, therefore vital information can be miscommunicated
By favouring in-group: drawn to similar interest, dedicating the time for them rather then others not within the groups
People should make new, diverse connections
In-groups and out-groups can cause tension in workforce therefore mangers should eliminate this from occurring
individuals should be encouraged to be diverse, value of diversity should be recognised in the workforce
Diversity- embracing that everyone has different characteristics and the difference among individuals
Factors such as:
Age, Gender, Race, Religion, Physical characteristics, Sexual orientation , Personality, Ethnicity, Marital status, Personality, Education, Experience, Knowlegde
Mangers must clearly interpret the different characteristics and manage more sensitvley
An ongoing trend that must be recognised as it contributes a large amount to modern day society and importance of diversity in a workforce for benefits
Mangers must focus on the long term benefits and diversity leads to greater innovation regardless if it takes more time and larger short-term costs
