Non-contact forces
Electrostatic
a
An electrostatic force is when an object (eg a plastic comb) has more positive charge than negative (for example after being rubbed on dry hair), allowing it to exert a force on an object (e.g. paper) and attract it. This is called static electricity. When an object is equal in positive charge and negative charge it is called electrically neutral.
b
- Lightning is a powerful example of static electricity.
- There are two types of electricity: Positive and Negative.
- When an object is equal in positive charge and negative charge it is called electrically neutral.
c
Example #1
Rubbing a balloon onto hair. The hair will try to stick to the balloon. This is one form of static electricity.
Example #2
Rubbing a plastic comb to dry hair will create an electric charge also called static electricity. (like example #1)

Magnetism

An example of magnetism is a bar magnet, which is attracted to a magnetic field and can attract or repel other magnets.

Magnetism is a force that comes from magnets, magnets are a stone or metal that attracts most metals. The main metals that are attracted to magnets are items high in iron, cobalt and/or nickel, not all objects are attracted to magnets. iron, cobalt and nickel are called ferromagnetic.
There are 3 types of magnets. Temporary magnets, permanent magnets and electromagnets.

What is gravity?
Everything is attracted to everything else. in other words, Everything has a gravitational pull. The greater the mass an object has (like the earth) the stronger gravitational pull it has on everything. Conclusively, we (and nobody else) knows what causes gravity. (though there are some good theory's) The force of gravity depends on 3 key factors: 1) The mass of the larger object. 2) The mass of the smaller object. 3) the distance between the two mass's.
b
1.Gravity keeps Earth and the other planets in our solar system in orbit around the Sun. 2.Tides are caused by the rotation of the Earth and the gravitational effects of the Moon and Sun.
c
Exsample 1:
-
If an apple is dropped, it falls to the ground. This is the cause of gravity.

Contact Forces

Friction
One thing rubbing against another, friction often causes heat.

A Balanced force is when Two Forces are being applied to an object which are equal. The object will not move. Eg Tug of War Pulling.
An Unbalanced force is when one of the two forces affecting an object is greater than the other. This moves/deforms the object in the direction of the greater force.
