- - - - Empiricism-The idea that reality is discerned through the senses, therefore the only way to really know the nature of reality is through the senses.
        The old way of knowing truth was by revelation and that meant the bible.
  - - - He explained that human beings and their goverment were in a social contract. If the power to govern is in the hands of the people then the social contract means that they willingly give up some of that power to a government who is willing to protect their natural rights.
  - - - Deism-Was the idea of yes there was a God and that God created all things in the beginning, but that God does not intervene in history, if you want to know God, then you discover his ways through the contemplation of natural laws.
        Conservatives-A strong belief in traditionand the shunning of ideoligy in favor of practical ideas. They resited this revolution of thought.
  - - - Seneca Fals convetion-A state conference to rally for women's rights, including women's suffrage which is the right to vote. They proposed in this gathering the declaration of sentiments which borrowed heavily from American decleration of independance but with some key changes, such as we hold these truths to be self evident that all men and women are created equal, and as a result women argued that women ought to be less dependant on their husbands in terms of property and income.
- - - - These ideas started taking hold all over the world and the first place they really took hold and caused a revolution was in the British colonies of North America.
        
        The American Revolution- :star:
  - - - The French Revolution-King Louis the 16th called in 1789 a meeting with the Estates general and the Estates general was an official body that represented the three estates of the French population, the clergy, the nobilty, and the commoners. The third estate broke away and formed their own representative body called the National Assembly and when Louis 16th hears about such insolence, he threatened to arrest the leaders of the National Assembly and in response to that on July 14th 1789, an angry crowd stormed the Bastille which was a prison that in the eyes of the people symbolized monarchical abuse and the corruption of the aristocracy and this fervor spread through out France inciting peasants to rise up against their nobles. The result of all of this was significant, Louis the 16th was forced to accept a new governmental arrangement that gave significant voice to the National Assembly.
        
        The Declaration of Man and citizen-This was deeply influenced by the American Declaration of Independence and included protection of basic human rights and provided for a limited monarchy, but Louis the 16th fought against it and that initiated a period of the French revolution called the reign of terror which culminated in the beheading of the king.
  - - - In 1791 a Haitian named Toussaint L'Overture took charge and led the rebellion agaisnt the French enslavers and much like the American revolution it was altogethr surprising when the Haitians actually clinched a victory against the French and established an independant Haitian government, it was the first successful revolution of enslaved people and the first black led independant nation in the Western Hemisphere.
  - - - Under the leadership of Simone Bolivar the Creoles rose up agaisnt Spain, he was very successful and gained a huge chunk of territory that he called Gran Columbia and this movement also had a document that outlined its values and they were shot through with Enlightenment thought.
  - - - German Unification-In 1848, the Prussian leader, Otto von Bismark, engineered three wars that United the German people in spirit against the enemy and in 1871, he United them in a nation when he found unified German Empire.
- - - - Causes of the Industrial Revolution-It started in the country of England, it started there because of the proximity to water and this created conditions for easy an inexpensive trade, the second reason why it started there is because they had lots of raw materials, the third reason is because of increased agricultural productivity, fourth reason is urbanization, fifth reason is protection of private property, sixth reason was access to foreign resources, and the seventh reason is the accumulation of capital.
  - - - James Hargreaves- Invented the spinning jenny in 1760, this made it possible for weavers to produce cloth at a much faster rate, and if you combined the water frame and the spinning jenny then you can make textiles super fast.
        
        Eli Whitney-He came up with interchangible parts, his appilication of this idea was guns, and if he made parts that fit every gun. So with the combining of those new technologies in this new labor system, the factory system was born.
- - - - Another focus of the Russian Industrial movement was the expansion of the steel industry and by 1900 Russia was the 4th largest producer of steel in the world.
