Yes, it is better to be judged by a jury of your peers than a judge.
Argument #3: With a jury, there can be more control. If you have been accused of a crime, you or your lawyer may be asked to help select the jury
You may be able to help select the jury may reassure you that you are likely to be judged by a jury of your peers.
Even if you suspect that a particular judge may decide against you, there is nothing you can do personally to have the judge removed.

A juror who looks at the defendant and blurts, "only a guilty person would have a tattoo like that guy does!" is clearly not impartial.
-
Argument #1: Jury members work together with the objective of arriving at the correct decision. A judge doesn't have the advantage of discussing the case with others.
A jury lets people deliberate, or fully an from many different sides to come to the best decision for a given case.
In the movie, Twelve angry men, one juror believed in a boy's innocence and he convinced the other jurors of his innocence. Wouldn't we want a juror to convince others of our innocence if we were wrongly convicted of a crime.
Argument #5: Jurors might be more sympathetic than a judge because they may follow their feelings rather than strictly following the law.
They might think that just the fact of being on trial might frighten her into never again leave the store without paying.
Though courts want and need to stick to the facts, sometimes those feelings can make for a fairer decision.
Because there was no search warrant, the evidence can't be considered. But because the crime is so awful, it may be extremely difficult for jurors to put aside their personal feelings about children. They might work harder to find legitimate reasons to convict the accused than a judge who is trained to be impartial and strictly follow the law.
Argument #6: Jurors, unlike many judges, have all the time they need to make a decision.
