How false reports of Boston Bombing arrest left media outlets scrambling. Boston, Massachusetts | April 17, 2013
- It is truly disgusting how news channels want to become the first to report on a huge crisis to gain company wealth even when many innocents have died.
- I feel that the largest news companies should have waited to express information publicly about the bombings because of the lack of knowledge they had.
- Its sickening to hear that the companies didn't want to get bad publicity so they didn't mention any officials names in their reporting. Using it as a coverup in the news.
- CNN, Fox News Channel, and the Boston Globe gave early and false information about an arrest during the bombing.
- John King had lied about seeing someone on a security camera who looked like they were putting down a bomb. Then said it was a dark-skinned male which was another lie.
- Many other big news channels decided to try and cover the story first and the fastest. They did it within minutes of each other and each one was a different story.
- Money was a big potential plus for news agencies now that they got a national emergency. It would have made the companies stupid rich from only a few hours of reporting.
- The FBI was keeping secrets about people already in custody for the bombing. They kept denying every single media question regarding the issue.
- This was all to gain fame and money as quickly as possible. reporters would never have spread such incorrect information about a national emergency. I think this because of each company coming public within minutes of each other.
- An option could be that the news channels were trying to gain huge amounts of revenue based on the hope of publicly displaying correct information to then donate the revenue .
- The FBI was denying a ton of reporting that consisted of potential arrests. They could have done this to protect any future incidents or to be smart about telling the public on who made the bombs.
- Due to the intensity of the situation, news companies could have raced to be the first to speak on the chaotic event to warn people not to visit the location to then save more lives.
- Given the circumstances right after the bombing, if there was a balance in research and reporting then there wouldn't be so many articles regarding big companies spreading lies
- The balance would have made an FBI investigation much easier so that fellow Americans could help stop the bombers and make the location safe faster.
- So many people and large companies would not be under articles calling them out for publicly displaying fake news or incorrect information.

Play devils advocate, what opposing view could be expressed
What is your opinion about the issue, and what caused you to form that opinion
How could using a balance in research and reporting tactics have made a difference in the outcome of what was reported
