Main Town NPCs
Finnegan Barick
The Mayor and his family
- Mayor's wife and two kids
- Proclaim wealth - doesn't hide the fact that he's wealthy
- People don't mind because he and his family built a lot of this town. Due to his work, this place was built from the ground-up and people are proud of that.
- Also, secretly, the Mayor is a Psi-Stalker but passes himself off as human???
Rich People:
- The rich people owe it to this Mayor for getting started - when they were only a very small company, he was right there, helping them out with starting funds, etc and funding some of their business
Mage Guild:
- The Mayor and/or his wife are learning the ways of Magic and taking lessons from the Mage's Guild
Augustus Laux
Owner of Augustus Alcohol
Maker of Thornhead Ale
Rich Person / People
(Bribed by The Alchemist)
- This guy is notorious for sleeping around
- he has been good the last few years but has a dirty past - he's cheated on his wife a few times
- His main industry is alcohol production (and he probably sells a lot of his alcohol to the poor people)
- The Alchemist may even use one of his factories/labs to test out some of his microbe experiments
Employees of his business/s (possibly in the Industrial District)
- Main alcohol producer in the town
- Some of his plant would have been used by Alchemist - he would have his own men come in and do his own experiments
- The Alchemist will be using an Eye of Eylor to spy on him too, make sure he's "above board"
Butlers, house staff, nannies, etc
His daughter Kaitlin
- Schoolgirl
- Very loyal, but very choosy about the friends she makes - scrutinizes people before trusting them
- Has symbiote and keeps it secret/hidden - she often complains of being sick
Alchemist:
- Alchemist has put a symbiote on his daughter and is threatening her life - if this guy doesn't do as the Alchemist says, he will trigger the symbiote and kill his daughter.
Poor People in the Town
- Alchemist has bought out some of these people and has injected others with the microbes to control them
- A lot of these people have animals with bionic limbs/parts which were fixed by the Operators in town
Psi-Stalkers in Poor Slums
- These guys will have the Controlled Hunger Edge (pg. 60 of Savage Rifts)
Mage Guild:
- These guys have an agreement with the Mage's Guild - the Mage's Guild feed these guys with magic energy in exchange for their protection - the Psi-Stalkers will watch over and protect the Mage's Guild from robberies, etc from other poor people
The Alchemist:
- Asad Remy, one of the Psi-Stalkers was racking some of the Alchemist's men/magical allies - they will be able to psychically sense them
- Some psi-stalkers who get too close to the Alchemist and his men could turn up dead
-
Rich People:
- These poor people will be consuming a lot of the Rich Person's alcohol
-
Mage Guild Leader and Members
- the Mage Guild could be offering "beautifying services" where they give people magical make-overs, using magic to literally change people's appearances
Mage Apprentice(s)
- These guys could have some connections to some Psi-Stalkers - there could be some nice relationships going on there
-
Poor People:
- Psi-Stalkers guard the Mage's Guild in exchange for being fed
- one of their members - Asad Remy - has been missing for a few days; they've been trying to find him - they can have his address
Asad Remy's Address
At Asad Remy's address there will be notes about Issa Sorel and her strange scent
- Could be tracking a few of Alchemist's guys around the place - have a few notes on a map
- Augustus's place will have traces
- The alcohol plant will have traces
- The water treatment plant
- Where Alchemist is storing his microbes
Group of Operators
- Living/working together
- These guys make scientific experiments
- They fix vehicles, power armour and source bionic materials for repairs and parts too
- Also doing normal vehicle repairs
The Mayor:
- Fix his car, make upgrades to his car(s)
Augustus Laux

FACT:
The "drug" isn't a drug at all, but an alien microbe
Forensic Scientist can tell this is a micro-organism, not a drug at all.
Further testing will show that the DNA suggests this is alien, not terran.
Further testing can tell how long it lasts in the body, etc etc
- Microbe Lifespan
- Has it evolved/been experiemnted on?
- Means of Elimination:
- Powers: How does the Puppet power work here?
** Extra strength, stamina, essentially have the Berserker Edge
Scientist can do tests for multiple types for drugs but can't correlate it with any type of known drug.
Further tests will detect this as being a microbe and not a drug.
FACT:
Dinner Party was just Phase One of the Alchemist's experiments. Whatever the Alchemist learns from Phase One he will implement for Phase Two, and learning from Phase Two informs for Phase Three
"Mayor's Party was a 'failed experiment'. But never mind, we still have Phase Two to make it better. This is the first time we've delivered this en-masse, so we'll cut ourselves some slack"
Idea: This gets said by some goons or other scientists and the PC's overhear this.
PCs will need to find some goons and go to their base/follow them.
-
PCs could read scribbled notes on a bad guy's base wall, where he brainstorms.
"Phase Two will need higher dosages".
"Mayor's Party: Phase One" (words are crossed out and "failed" over the top in red.
Markets Attack
Bad guys will have stolen an Augustus Alcohol Truck to serve the alcohol at the Markets - they would laced the alcohol with the microbes
FACT:
This Splugorth Alchemist, Kiilan Tar, is the one who supplies the Demon Group with this microbe to mind-fuck the slaves they capture
Clue: Will have to find a bunch of info which connects this Alchemist directly to the Demon's Group and EXPLICITLY STATES the Alchemist is the supplier of this drug/microbe.
Idea: The PCs find a base of the Demon's Group nearby Hyperion Town and they could give info which links them to the Alchemist
Idea: The Demon's group could have agents planted already in and around businesses in this town, and even surrounding communities
- agents could be in Town Militia or in Ausustus' Brewery
Clue: However, this Demon Group is doing its own plan and NOT working with the Alchemist.... the Demon Group gets supplied by him.
The Demon Group is in town for a DIFFERENT mission, nothing at all to do with the Alchemist's plans.
- What is their identity and story? Who are they?
- What is their relation to the theme?
- What are their connections to the other NPCs? Have they heard of other people by reputation, etc?
- How do they connect to other sub-stories or the main theme?
Main Themes:
- Symbiosis / Symbiote living off the Host and vice-versa
-
-
-
-
-
FACT:
Kiilan Tar has Minions of Splugorth here and he also mind-controls people to be Lesser Minions / Cannon Fodder.
FACT:
Other Minions will have their own bases and some will just work from their homes across Hyperion
FACT:
The drugs/microbes are very addictive and the people who first experienced them really crave more - the microbes affect the brain chemistry in an addictive fashion
-
Splugorth List of Things:
- Bad guy scientists (Splugorth or Humans)
- Scientific labs / storage places for microbes and parasites
- Mobile bases (?) for their scientific experiments
- Mobile labs to work out of
- Splugorth vehicles
- Splugorth "asthetic" and themes for various bad guy bases, etc
- Bad guy bases or hideouts in general
FACT
This is an alien microbe which Splugorth use to mind control their slaves and subjects on Atlantis
Plot Points:
- Dramatic Question: Can the PCs find out who is behind the attacks in Hyperion Town?
- Starts to look like this is the doing of the Demon Group (that Sylos used to be a part of)
- The evidence the PCs find along the way is suggesting it's someone else
- Mid-point: The Markets attack - this will be a much stronger dosage than the first attack
- The Alchemist might have a few more smaller "tests" along the way to test out his microbe release
- Best Method: Start at the END and work my way backwards with what the Alchemist will do/try along the way to achieve what he wants to achieve in the end. i.e. X is the end, what does the Antagonist need to do to achieve X?
- What DOES he want to achieve...? Does he just want to infect everyone and cause town-wide panic, or does he have a specific goal in mind...? Is the microbe release just a ruse to mask his real target/intent?
