MULTI-SENSORY DESIGN
The design must consider how the members respond to the space on many different levels, sometimes sub-consciously
A space that is visually comforting, evokes a feeling of safety, is acoustically calming and feels inviting to spend time in
The scheme must use materials that have practical and aesthetic qualities. The building is situated on the corner of a very busy London street, add multiple people and the room could become unbearably noisy and distressing for some to spend time in if the materials within the space are not carefully considered
A new floor is required. Research into acoustic tempering has ruled out many standard floor finishes
A material that is comfortable to sit on is a key consideration as standard seating options may be extremely limited due to the flexibility required of the space. Seating that is easy to store away quickly to create an empty space is a priority. Using rugs and floor cushions on top of a soft floor material is a practical solution to this request
Adding textures into the space by means of soft furnishings or finishes applied to walls will create a tactile environment that is visually calming and absorbs sound

WELLBEING IN DESIGN
Wellness focused interior design realises that spaces can greatly influence our physical health, as well as our emotional state of mind.
-
Colour for Wellbeing
Different colors used in interior design can really effect the environment and can either overstimulate or under stimulate the space.
-
MINDFULNESS IN DESIGN
A Mindfulness interior creates a ‘zen – like’ environment, helping to reduce the stresses of everyday life. The result is a calming and relaxing interior space.
Increasing your capacity for mindfulness supports many positive attitudes that contribute to a satisfied life. Being mindful helps you commit fully to activities, and creates greater capacity to manage adverse events.
Improves physical health: relieve stress, lower blood pressure, treat heart disease, reduce chronic pain and improve sleep quality.
Improves mental health: like depression, anxiety, inter-personal conflicts, and obsessive-compulsive disorders
