THE SCIENTIFIC ENDEAVOR - Coggle Diagram

- - - - After deciding on what kind of evidence to collect, we use our 5 senses (Sight, Hearing, Smell, Taste, Touch) to make observations as we collect evidence or use instruments to extend our range of senses (Eg. thermometer)
        Evidence collected can be descriptive (qualitative) or measurable information (quantitative)
    - - Analyse experiment results , identifying trends. This also involves comparing or classifying the data collected. We make conclusions based on the trends observed Evaluate the accuracy of the results. If the results are inconsistent with our hypothesis, we refine the hypothesis and test it again
    - - When we encounter a puzzling situation , we ask questions to obtain more information and generate ideas
        Proposing a hypothesis to form possible explanations.
- - - - Medicine :
        Antibiotic can increase the risk of antibiotic-resistant 'superbugs'
      - Pest and disease-resistant food crops :
        The pest and disease-resistant genes can be transferred to wild plants during breeding > upset the balance of ecosystem > compete with other plants for light and space
      - Automobiles :
        Emissions from the automobiles causes air pollution
      - Styrofoam :
        Gases released during the manufacture of Styrofoam contributes to global warming. Styrofoam cannot decompose naturally, polluting the environment > harm and kill animals that accidentally consumed
    - - Medicine :
        Medicines such as antibiotics help cure diseases
      - Pest and disease-resistant food crops :
        Food crops are resistant to attacks by pests and disease-resistant genes
      - Automobiles :
        This allows the transport of people and things from one place to another quickly
      - Styrofoam :
        Used to make objects such as cups and containers as it is lightweight. It is also able to keep food warm for longer periods of time.
