The swineherd was being responsible for greeting Odysseus, he wanted to protect him, so he personally didn't want Odysseus to come inside town because the mean suitors could harm him

The men that Odysseus was pasing by were teasing him about his looks and thinks that he would only be worth as a slave
When Odysseus came back home, the suitors didn't recognize him so they were making fun of him especially Antinous who used violence after a couple of words Odysseus told him

Things changed after 20 years, so when Odysseus came back home in a beggar form, he soon realize that his country and people was changed. People's scorn on beggar got bigger and bigger and the problem was that the suitors were impacting them so it made up another reason for Odysseus to kill them
Revenge
Seeing his father got beaten and made fun of, Telemachus was very angry but he hold back thinking of what he will do to them for revenge
After what Odysseus told Antinous, Antinous was furious and wanted to get revenge on him by beating him up, but other suitors persuaded him that he should not be foolish to touch the beggar because it could be a god who's trying to test men

Antinous wanted Odysseus to suffer while fighting with the other beggar to show him his power and that Odysseus's nothing to him

Antinous even warned the beggar that if he loses to Odysseus he will be enslave and go to another country

Penelope treated Odysseus as the beggar like a formal guest while the slaves see him as a burden to their owner's house

How Odysseus grabbed his nurse's throat and threaten her was not civilized as well as how he plan to kill all the slave whether or not they are loyal to him

Odysseus was too angry that he only thinks about getting revenge, he didn't even think about his old nurse who was innocent and always wanted him to come home

Telemachus thought that Penelope sent Odysseus away but he was wrong, as Penelope was persuaded by him, she treats him well
Revenge
Odysseus was afraid that after he kill all the suitors, he will be revenged as revenge is justice for the Greeks
