Battle of Lexington and Concord

Reveres notification had made the colonists at Lexington and Concord ready to fight the British once they arrived

In the end the colonists had won, killing about 90 British soldiers, and wounding about 174 British soldiers

This was a big trigger leading the American Revolution

Second Continental Congress ⭐

Battle of Bunker Hill ⭐

Fort Ticonderoga ⭐

Benedict Arnold a military officer wanted to strike Fort Ticonderoga to beat the British troop there

Fort Ticonderoga had no idea about what happened at Lexington and Concord. So in a way they were being some what surprised when Benedict Arnold and Ethan Allen were coming

The colonists captured Fort Ticonderoga without firing a single shot

Colonel William Prescott and General Israel Putnam found out about the British plans on how they wanted to occupy the hills around Boston

The colonists did not have too many supplies as they needed to savor there bullets for the battle of bunker hill

In the end the British were to say they won a victory as they won the battle of bunker hill

In the end more then 1000 British and about 400 colonists had died

Declaration of Independence

The Declaration of Independence was written by Thomas Jefferson, as he was a very talented writer and agreed with the idea of being independent and free from Britain

The Declaration of Independence was parted into three separate parts.. the first part is a preamble. The second part explains the rights of the colonists. And the last part explains the colonists complaints against the British government.

This document was so important as for today there is even a holiday called Independence Day on July 4

There is even a saying "Put your John Hancock Here" Because John Hancock was the first person to sign the Declaration of Independence and he signed it so big and large in the middle it became a famous saying

Important people- Paul Revere ⭐

The second continental congress were two sides split... (The Olive Branch) and the (sword)

The second continental congress was there to discuss what to do when the war comes around

The meeting was somewhat made up of the same delegates from the First Continental Congress

With help from the Congress, colonists were moving father up to independence

Paul Revere was a big patriot during the American Revolution, and risked his life for the safety of the colonists

Important people- Patrick Henry ⭐

Patrick Henry was very much known for his liberty speech "Give Me Liberty, Or Give Me Death" and he served as the first and sixth post colonial Governor of Virginia

Important People- Thomas Paine ⭐

Thomas Paine authored one of the most influential writing pieces that inspired the colonists to get there freedom from Britain

Battle of Saratoga ⭐

Important People- Thomas Jefferson ⭐

Thomas Jefferson was none for his massive talent in writing, that is also the reason he got picked to write the Declaration of independence

Important People- George Washington ⭐

He was in command of Virginia during the french and Indian war, he helped inspire others. He was commander in chief of the continental army. His soldiers trusted him and followed him because they knew he was brave and honest.

King George was a horrible leader, as he implemented unfair and unnecessary rules and taxes

Battle of Trenton

The night of December 23, 1776 George Washington took his army and sailed over the Delaware River to make a surprise attack on the Hessians fort located at Trenton.

It was a tough sail to Trenton but in the end it was worth it.

The Colonists had won a big and successful victory!

The Winter at Valley Forge ⭐

And there were located at Valley Forge during winter and so it was bitterly cold

They were suffering from starvation and very cold climates

In December 1777, Gen. George Washington took his army and moved them to Valley Forge

Many soldiers were getting sick with diseases

Despite all the harsh experiences at Valley Forge, Baron von Steuben showed the soldiers to be very disciplined and well trained.

Even though Baron von Steuben drilled and trained them pretty harshly, the soldiers came to love him

The Battle of Saratoga was a very big and important turning point for the American Revolution

The British needed to go upstate to New York

The British's mission was to take over the Hudson River, but of course the colonists did not want that happening

George Washington and Horatio Gates moved to stop Burgoyne

Burgoyne then surrendered with his 6000 soldiers

This Massive victory for the American colonists helped them keep going and keep believing in themselves

The Treaty of Paris ⭐

The Treaty of Paris was a document that was signed by both sides (America, and Britain) in 1783 to state that America was reborn as an independent country! But both sides did have a couple of terms.

Yorktown ⭐

The Battle of Yorktown was the last battle of the Revolutionary war

In the end of this war the British did decided to surrender and consider a peace treaty

Benjamin Franklin served in the second Continental Congress and helped draft the Declaration of Independence in 1776

Important people- Baron Von Steuben ⭐

Important People- Marquis de Lafayette ⭐

Baron Von Steuben was a very well trained military officer and helped the soldiers at Valley Forge overcome the harsh winter

Charles Cornwallis was one of the most prominent British generals during the American War for Independence. But his army to become trapped at Yorktown, Virginia, in October 1781and surrendered.

Marquis de Lafayette was a French general who helped the colonists against the British. With his time and money he helped the Americans win the war and was treated as a hero.
