Arguments for the existence of god
Ontological
Summary
God is meant to be seen as the greatest conceivable being. Things which exist in reality are better than those which are imagined, therefore god must exist if he is the greatest conceivable being
Pros
It is a logically based argument
It can be easily thought through and related to people with analogies
Cons
The argument only works if you believe there could be a god, If an atheistic standpoint was taken towards this they would not believe that god was the greatest conceivable being, therefore it supplies no proof that god could actually exist to those who do not follow Christianity
Guanilo's perfect island - if you think up the perfect island, it doesn't mean it exists just because you think about it

Cosmological (causations
Summary
Everything in the universe exists within a cause and effect system. Everything is cause by something else. This cannot go infinitely back in time (Known as infinite regress), so something must have started it, as god is contingent he never started nor ended, and he is powerful enough, we can assume that he started the universe
Pros
It brings up a very reasonable question
It can coincide with the idea that god caused the big bang
Cons
We assume that is has to be god who started it, what if something else big started it?

Design
Summary
The universe is so complexly designed that it must have had a designer.
Paley's watch: If you were walking around and saw a watch, you would assume that it had a designer due to the small intricacy's and accuracys. In many ways a watch is as complex as a human cell, and far less complex than the universe.
Pros
It offers a reasonable argument for the existence of god
It is logical
it does help question how complex the universe is
Cons
There is suitable proof for evolution, so why would god make evolution happen when he could have just designed us straight away
