Steps
- Before Conditioning: Neutral Stimulus -- No response Unconditioned Stimulus -- Unconditioned response
- During Conditioning : ( Neutral Stimulus + Unconditioned Stimulus ) -- Unconditioned Response
- After Conditioning : Conditioned Stimulus -- Conditioned Response

Unreinforced Trials: If the neutral stimulus appears without the unconditioned stimulus repeatedly ,then the neutral stimulus loses it's effect.

To treat alcoholics : everytime they drink alcohol ,they are made to take a vomit inducing tablet.

Flooding

Directly exposing them to the source of fear in a controlled environment for a specified period of time.
Initially the person will feel anxious but once exhausted from anxiety .they will be able to rationalize that his/her phobia is harmless
Can be dangerous as some of the patients will not able to cope with so much of anxiety at once and may become even more phobic

Purpose:developing sensitivity to a cue that an event is about to happen allows you to prepare for that event

Habituation
When we are repeatedly exposed to a stimulus ,we develop a tolerance for it .

For eg: ticking of a clock ,traffic or construction noise
