Uses of "Would" and "Would have to"
- To report ideas held in the past about the future: Some experts believed that the world would be much colder.
- To describe something in the past as if seen as a future prediction: The 20th century would be a time of extraordinary change.
- To state a hypotheses about different outcomes if the situation had been different: I wouldn't have called you, but I did not know who to call.
