FBC may show normochromic, normocytic anaemia

Clinical presentation

superficial temporal artery may become tender, firm and pulseless
blindness caused by inflammation and occlusion of the ciliary or central retinal artery occurs in 25% of cases

systemic features - weight loss, fever, malaise

Pathophysiology
arteries come inflamed, thickened and can obstruct blood flow

granulomatous arteritis particular affecting the extra-dural arteries and the large cerebral arteries
