Advertising techniques
Emotional appeal / Pathos - Using the audiences emotions to help them believe in what you are selling. For example world vision show pictures of children who are sick and starving to emotional manipulate you into donating.
Facts and statistic/ Logos - Using Facts to demonstrate to the audience a point about your products usefulness. For example breast cancer Australia would advertise how many women get breast cancer so that people know that it is a real issue (1 in 7 females will get breast cancer)
Ethos / credibility - Demonstrating to the audience that the ad has truth behind it. For example a professor will state that the product can work. However sometime the product doesn't work but the professor state that it does anyway.
Celebrity - Using a celebrity to advertise a product can make the audience want to buy it because it becomes more of a symbol then a product. It is now more about that you wear the same product a celebrity does than if the product works or not.
Symbolism - Using the background or the way they advertise the product to reflect on the image of the product. For example Tagheuer a watch brand has Chris hemsworth as their image with the watch. Chris hemsworth is viewed with strength so the watch is then viewed as strong.
Advertising is the promoting of your product to your target audience ( Your target audience is the people you think will be most likely to buy your product. For example a 20 year old won't buy Plantur 39 for hair over 50.
Good advertising depends on the product and the target audience. Advertising is all about perspective rather than getting everyone to like it. A 20 year old will think that the advertising for a new movie is good whereas a 40 year old won't like it. Its all about appealing to the target audience.
