The match starts and king Claudius prepares a poisoned drink for Hamlet which the Queen ends up drinking.
Hamlet appears to be winning and begs Laertes to stop taking it easy on him and they end up stabbing each other and the queen cries out that she has been poisoned and dies.
Laertes admits foul play and exposes king Claudius. At this point Hamlet knows that he has been poisoned by the rapiers as well.
