direct consequences
the 60's scoop was a terrible thing an only happend because the government thought that it was a good idea to scoop up people from indigenous heritage and put them into British families. stuff like this happend to many people including my great aunt.
With the first nations people being taken from there land the British people took lots of there land.
in the 1870s The first residential schools open. they were shut down In 1996, the system was taken over by the Department of Indian Affairs, ending church involvement. The government decided to phase out the schools, but this met with resistance from the Catholic Church, which felt that segregated education was the best approach for Indigenous children.
Loss of culture there are many people who have lost there heritage because they were forced to go to residential schools.
