Gene Transcription:Santiago Riveros ,and Raul Forero 8A
1 Initiation:
Is the beginning of transcription. It occurs when the enzyme RNA polymerase binds to a region of a gene called the promoter. This signals the DNA to unwind so the enzyme can ''read'' the bases in one of the DNA strands.
Elongation is a regulated process in which an RNA chain complementary to the template strand of DNA is synthesized as RNA polymerase moves along DNA.
During this process, an adenine (A) in the DNA binds to an uracil (U) in the RNA. Termination is the ending of transcription, and occurs when RNA polymerase crosses a stop (termination) sequence in the gene. The mRNA strand is complete, and it detaches from DNA.
GENE
A long stretch oh DNA that codes for something, usually a protein or a group pf proteins. A typical human gene may be anywhere from 300 to over 1.000.000 nucleotide pairs long
VOCABULARY
nitrogenous bases
RNA: Adenine, Guanine, Cytosine, Uracil
DNA: Ciytosine, Guanine,Thymine, Adenine

what is?
Transcription is the process by which the information in a strand of DNA is copied into a new molecule of messenger RNA (mRNA). DNA safely and stably stores genetic material in the nuclei of cells as a reference, or template.
