ACTH stimulation test
Pituitary-dependent
: Dogs with pituitary tumors have
high normal or high
concentration of endogenous ACTH.
Adrenal-dependent
: Dogs with adrenal tumors have very
low
endogenous ACTH concentrations.
High-dose dexamethasone suppression test (HDDS)
Pituitary-dependent
: The serum cortisol concentration is suppressed by 50% by four hours.
Adrenal-dependent
: The serum cortisol is not suppressed at four hours.
Urine cortisol/creatinine ratio
Diagnostic imaging
Abdominal ultrasonography to evaluate the size of adrenal glands
