Fats are stored in the body as an energy reserve. When our body's supply of carbohydrates (main energy provider) runs low, the body fats will be used to provide energy.

Excessive intake of fats
Causes obesity in which a person is extremely overweight. Obesity is caused by excessive intake from fats and sugars. Obese increases the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases, hypertension and type 2 of diabetes mellitus.
Cardiovascular diseases such as coronary heart disease and stroke, affects the heart and the circulatory system. Coronary heart disease occurs when the flow of blood in the arteries is reduced or blocked. These arteries can be blocked by narrowing due to the build-up of plaque (fatty acids deposits made up of 'bad' cholesterol.)
Arteries that are blocked reduced supply of blood and oxygen to the heart muscle.
Hypertension is where the blood pressure in the arteries are too high which is by high intake of salt.

comes form plant fats with the exception of fish oils, which are animal fats. These can be hydrogenated to form semi-solid or solid fats known as hydrogenated or partially-hydrogenated fats.
Hydrogenation is the process where unsaturated fatty acids react with hydrogen to form saturated fatty acids. The saturated fatty acids which are formed which are formed through hydrogenation known as trans fats.

recommended daily intake of fats, we should not consume more than 55-65g of fats per day. The types of fats and monounsaturated fats as they are considered healthier compared to saturated fats and trans fats.
