Respiration
Respiration is a series of chemical reactions that take place in cells, leading to the breakdown of nutrient molecules to release energy for metabolism.
-
-
Sensitivity
Living organisms can detect changes in their internal or external environments and
respond to these changes.
-
Movement
Living organisms can move all or part of themselves. Animals can move to find
food or escape from predators, while plants can move their leaves to capture more sun.
Your nerves stimulate your muscles, moving your bones and therefore moves the area your brain wanted to.
Nutrition
Organisms consume ingredients for development. This material is used for chemical reactions for energy production for growth and repair. Animals consume organic compounds, ions and
water. Plants absorb light, carbon dioxide, water and ions for use in photosynthesis.
Animals need to eat, plant make their own food using photosynthesis.
Growth
Organisms grow, causing a permanent increase in size. This can be measured by dry mass, the cell size, or the number of cells.
-
Excretion
Waste products from metabolic reactions are eliminated from the body. This includes toxic materials, excess substances, and carbon dioxide from respiration.
