What?
Assessment system in Malaysia has undergone changes according to current needs of pupils, teachers, employers, nation and international trends
focus on formative assessment, emphasize on school- based assessment, HOTS, authentic assessment, on-line assessment.
Exam-oriented system
The real objectives of learning is to gain knowledge but the schools have become a
platform for pupils to achieve as many grade “A” as possible as evidence sign of excellence in public exam
– lack of HOT Qs, Qs focusing on basic skills, knowledge and comprehension
Teaching-learning instruction emphasize on examination
Teaching- learning focus on rote learning
School-based Assessment
Burdensome to teachers
Teachers need to monitor the progress of pupils

Authentic Asessment
Scoring of tasks are based on rubrics – scoring too subjective. Thus Qs of validity and reliability
