Balancing different aspects of life - mental, physical, emotional - is very important for our well-being. This tournament was intended to promote a lifestyle that includes exercise by spreading the fun of basketball in our community. To initiate it, I gathered my friends who shared a mutual interest of basketball and discussed the idea of hosting a tournament. It was out first time organizing an event like this so it required us to meet regularly with and without our supervisor.
We realized that in order to facilitate the job, we should distribute the jobs so that we can work on different things at the same time. I was given the job to find the location/venue for the tournament and create a questionnaire for participants. Once everyone did their own job, organizing the event became very easy and we saw great success in our final product.

Breakfast club was an activity in which I was able to help homeless people by distributing surplus foods from cafes. I learnt the joy in helping those in dire need which is something I've never directly done before. Although it required a lot of effort, I was committed to helping these people and really trying to make their quality of life better and woke up at 4:30am once a week for a whole year to join the club.
It was also a reflective experience in which I was able to reflect on the ethical implications of my actions. For example, I thought that I might be making their life better in the short run since they won't starve but worsening it in the long run because they might become reliant on our service and be disincentivized to get out of poverty. Furthermore, the money 10/20 sek that we hand out can contribute to alcohol/drug problems which can worsen their life quality and also create negative externalities.

Both the gym and basketball were activities I was very passionate for and to which I devoted a lot of time for. I practiced with my team 3 times a week with additional games on the weekends and trained at the gym at least 3 times a week for the whole of DP. For basketball, training with my team was crucial since we had set plays and everyone had to get their job done - when this was done in games, we made points and won games which was very joyful.
As physical as the activities are, I was very reflective when it came to them since they were my passion and I was willing to do everything to improve myself. For example, in basketball I identified my weaknesses (size) and compensated by training for stamina and focusing on defense. Or for example I wanted to jump higher and dunk so I trained with weights for explosiveness and vertical jumping in the gym, so the two activities go hand in hand. Finally, in the gym I really focused on returning from my injuries, making sure to film myself and analyze and fix my form so that I could get stronger.
