decrease the risk of coronary death, myocardial infarction and slow progression of coronary atherosclerosis
MECHANISM OF ACTION
decrease the amount of cholesterol that may be build up on the walls of the arteries and block blood flow to the heart, brain and other parts of the body

Patients with severe liver impairment, recent operation

insomnia, urinary tract infection, pain and flushing
ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION

can be taken with or without food, drug should be swallowed whole with water not crushed
Hypercholesterolemia: in adults and geriatrics population ; 40 mg PO dailly and do not exceed80 mg per day

nursing consideration
assess any pain, tenderness or weakness especially if accompanied by fever malaise and dark-colored urine
monitor signs of hypersensitivity reactions including pulmonary symptoms e. g tightness in the throat, cough and wheezing
monitor symptoms of bronchitis including cough, shortness of breath and production of sputum
monitor chest pains and attempt to determine if pain is drug induced or caused by cardiovascular dysfunction
