TIZANIDINE
Mechanism of action
It presumably reduces spasticity
It is a central alpha-2-adrenergic receptor agonist
By increasing presynaptic inhibition of motor neurons
The overall effect of these action is thought to reduce facilitation of spinal motor neurons
Indications
This medication is used to treat muscle spasm
Spinal cord injury
Multiple sclerosis
Contraindications
Hepatic disease
Driving or operating machines
Renal failure, renal impairment
Psychosis
Hypotension
Abrupt discontinuation
Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to tizanidine or its ingredients
Labor, obstetric delivery, pregnancy
