Austria Hungary wanted to surprise attack Italy. when the went towards them the way was very rocky and ruggid terrain which slowed down the Austria-Hungarian people.

Italy had a feeling that Austria Hungary would do another battle but were not sure about it. eventually Austria Hungary did give a surprise attack near Asiago.
battle of Asiago was also know as the Trentino offensive
right after this battle was over the battle of Somme started.

for safety Italians were defensing. .
Even though Austria had a huge advantage they ended up loosing.
