Mechanism of action
Belongs to thiazide class of diuretics
Reduces blood volume by acting on the kidneys
To reduce sodium reabsorbtion
In the distal convulated tubules
The site of action in the nephron
Appears electoneutral NaCl co-transporter
By impairing Na ions in the distal convulated tubular
It induces a natriuresis and concomitant water loss
Thiazides increase reabsorbtion of Cl
HCL lowers peripheral vascular resistance
