Cell Cycle and Mitosis
-
The Cell Cycle
-
G1
Cellular contents, excluding the chromosomes are duplicated.

-
Control is lost
If the genes mutate, proteins may not function and start dividing without any control
-
Division of mitosis
Metaphase
Chromosomes move to the center of the cell and line up along the equator and spindle fibers link the chromatids of each chromosome to opposite poles.
Anaphase
Centromeres divide, chromatids move toward opposite poles and the spindle fibers attached to them shorten.
Prophase:
Chromosomes condense, nuclear envelope dissolves and spindle forms
Telophase
Nuclear envelope forms around the chromosomes at each pole, chromosomes uncoil and spindle dissolves.
