The Truman Show
Characters?
Truman and Telemachus are similar in the regard that they both try to find their fathers who have left them.
Events?
Both Truman and Telemachus's fathers have disappeared, and a big part of their journey is to try and find them. They both believe in the possibility that their fathers are dead, but they don't give up and find them in the end.
Context?
Victimization is entertainment and there is no longer a boundary over the devaluation of one's life. Truman and Odysseus present a satirical extension of the concept of reality to its most extreme (against values of god and society).
Global Issues
Possible to connection to slavery and the idea that people are property and they should do whatever those in a higher position of power should say.

The Truman Show
Events?
Both texts demonstrate role reversal regarding power. The Smales family's power is transferred into the hands of July. In the Truman show, there is a gradual switch of power over to Truman himself once he starts to realize that something odd is happening.
Characters?
Truman and July are similar in the regard that they were so normalized to their roles and throughout the texts, they started to become more comfortable with rebelling (Truman trying to escape Sea Haven and July starting to get more power by keeping the keys to the Bakkie and in other instances like that).
Context?
Both have similar contexts of being trapped in a place where you don't want to be. Smales are trapped in the village and want to go back to their cleaner and safer lifestyle and Truman is stuck in a reality TV show.
