The main assault would be executed over the St Quentin Canal toward the south of Masnieres, between Banteux and Vendhuille. This would reach Havrincourt then turn north.
The next assault would originate from the west of Bourlon and be pointed south. Together they would move up the British cutting edge and cut off British powers in the region they had caught only seven days before.
