Reproductive System
Hormones
Luteinizing Hormone (LH)- In women, the hormone stimulates the ovaries to produce oestradiol and for men it stimulates the production of testosterone from Leydig cells in the testes
-
Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH)- In women, it stimulates the growth of ovarian follicles in the ovary before the release of an egg from one follicle at ovulation and in men it acts on the Sertoli cells of the testes to stimulate sperm production
Testosterone- most often associated with sex drive, and plays a vital role in sperm production. It also affects bone and muscle mass, the way men store fat in the body, moodiness, and even red blood cell production.
Gonadotropin-releasing hormone- causes the pituitary gland in the brain to make and secrete the hormones luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH)
Estrogen- responsible for the development and regulation of the female reproductive system and secondary sex characteristics
