Purpose Statement: a statement that advances the overal direction of the study
Hypothesis: Prediction or conjecture about the outcome of the research based on previous findings
Research Questions: Specific questions that the researcher seek to answer
Research Objectives (Quantitative): Goals that the investigator seek to achieve in a study

Guidelines
One sentence, use identifier words, specify variables and their connections, state the independent variables followed by dependent variables, identify the participants and the research site
