My First Year as an Arts & Culture Bachelors Student, Maastricht University
Online Learning
Time Zone Changes: Realizing the time zone changes and making sure I attend the Zoom Calls has been extremely difficult.
Keeping in touch!: Reaching out to others has helped my mental health incredibly. Zoom calls and texting with friends in Maastricht as well as 6ft apart socializing has been such a mood booster recently.
Self-Discipline: My self discipline has continued to grow as I have to complete my studies, zoom calls, and assignments in Isolation.
Awareness: Staying Up to Date on the Latest News Regarding the University, CO-VID19 and with family and friends.
Time: Online learning has allotted more time in my day for me to pursue other interests such as my yoga practice, sewing, cooking and reading. Most importantly I have had the time to work on my travel, lifestyle blog! I would love if you would check it out here: https://www.gorgeousandglobal.com/
Routine: Discovering and sticking to a routine was difficult at first but has helped immensely in making quarantine feel more normal and not as restricting.
Courses & Skills Courses
Knowledge: Maastricht's Arts & Culture Courses have opened my eyes the the incredible histories, arts, and philosophies of the world. I would've never personally thought about exploring them but I find these subjects we focus on immensely interesting and beneficial for my future career.

PBL Method
Critical Thinking & Problem Solving: With the PBL Method at Maastricht, it was defiantly difficult at first to get used to. However, I have noticed how much my critical thinking and problem solving skills have benefitted from it.
Time Management: Due to the increased time of self-study than I was previously used to I have had to work on my time management skills. The skill of time blocking which I have learned from the Mentor Program here, has helped me immensely with dedicating time to complete assignments on time while also scheduling in socializing and extracurriculars for mental health.
Communication: Through working through all of my skills courses and now through online learning, communication has always been somewhat of a difficulty. When it comes to communicating with classmates and professor s of all different languages, cultures, and traditions , I have had to personally work on my communication skills to ensure I got my point or question across.
Self-Discipline: In comparison to my previous University, Maastricht has much more self-study time and less class time which has required me to improve my self-study discipline . So that I ensure I am up to date on the course material and guidelines.
