Indications
Imitrax injection for adults with acute migraine, with or without aura
Acute treatment of cluster headache
Mechanism of action
Thereby constricting cerebral blood vessels
This may lead to a relief in pain from vascular headaches
Sumatriptan selectively binds to and activate serotonin 5-HT1D receptors
A sulfonamide triptan with sumatriptan makes vasoconstrictor activity
Contraindications
Arteriosclerosis
Silent myocardial ischemia
Vasospactic angina such as prinzmetal's variant angina
Acute myocardial infarction
Angina pectoris
Patients with known coronary artery disease
