Axum replaced Kush as the commercial center of northeast Africa.
Axums wealth and power can be seen in the huge monumente Stele.
Christianity in Axum
Under influences King Ezana became a Christian and Monks continued to establish christianity throughout the kingdom.
Axum slowly began to weaken in the 600s and eventually a new dynasty emerged= Zagwe
Zagwe emerged in what is now Ethiopia and was a christian kingdom
East African city states
Between the 800s and the 1400s Arab and Persians immigrannts blended with the local communities and formed more than 3 dozen city-states
