RENEWABLES AND NON-RENEWABLES ENERGY SOURCES
RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES
They are unlimited.
They don't run out.
SOLAR ENERGY
We get solar energy from the Sun in the form of heat and light.
WIND ENERGY
We get wind energy from the movement of the air.
HYDRO ENERGY
We get hydro energy from water that is moving or falling.
GEOTHERMAL ENERGY
We get geothermal energy from the Earth’s heat.
BIOFUELS
We get biomass from burning natural waste and this produces bioenergy.
NON-RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES
They are limited.
They will run out.
Using non-renewable energy sources cause two problems.
GLOBAL WARMING:
The extra carbon dioxide in the air makes the planet become warmer each year.
ACID RAIN:
Water in the air dissolves polluting gases producing acids.
COAL
This black rock composed mainly of carbon. Is formed underground.
PETROLEUM
This black liquid formed underground is the source of oil, diesel and petrol.
NATURAL GAS
It is a mixture of gases found underground.
URANIUM
This radioactive metal is used in power stations to produce heat in nuclear stations.
