- - - - 4:20 am ,8th August the Allied troops were in position to attack and they opened fire. Here, the Germans were not prepared for such a combat.
        
        Immediately, many Germans surrendered and were taken hostage by the large Allied and Canadian army, who outmaneuvered the Germans.
        
        The battle went on for three days (till the11th) and the Allies succeeded in pushing back the Germans more than 12km back.
        
        This was the first of a series of offensives popularly known as the Hundred Days Offensive which ended in November once the armistice was signed.
