Confidence interval
Statistical Inference
Two types of estimate for population parameter:
Point estimate
: is a single numerical value used to estimate
the corresponding population parameter.
Interval estimate: consists of two numerical values defining a range of values that, with a specified degree of conconfidence most likely includes the parameter being estimated.
Population
sample population
population ffrom which one actually draws a sample
target population
population about which one wishes to make an inference
confidence interval for different between two population means
population variance is known
population variance is unknown
population variances are equal,
the situation in which they are not equal.
Confidence interval for single population mean
Normally distributed mean
population variance is known
population variance is unknown
confidence interval for population proportion
Using the binomial setup,
Using Central Limit Theorem,
