Students investigate the phenomenon. Students can also use prior knowledge to investigate the material. Students will question the experiences and create relationships and understanding.
Teacher provides hands-on activities. During this step the teacher will act as a facilitator.The teacher observes and listen to the students

EXPLAIN
Students critically listen to the teacher and their peers. Explains ones own thinking to others, but also questions others thinking.
Students will explain what they have learned.
The teacher will listen and correct any misconceptions. Asks for clarifications from the students. The teacher will define any information if needed.
Vocabulary Instruction, Textbooks, Articles !
EXTEND
Applies the new labels and definitions to the situations and deepens their skill. Uses previous information to ask more questions.
The teacher reminds the students there are multiple ways of explaining ideas. The teacher encourages the students to think "outside the box". Persuades the students to use information previously given to enhance their learning. The teacher can apply other content areas with science.
